Chapter History
HISTORY:
The Rocky Mountain Alumnae Chapter was chartered on April 12, 1986. A meeting was held on July 16, 1985 to gauge interest by local alumnae. Becky Kirwan, the national president at the time, had moved to Aurora and was the catalyst to get a group started. After the July meeting, the next event was Founder’s Day, then a few more get-togethers by the time the charter was granted. Printed directories through at least 2015 have a list of all 62 charter members.
At the 2016 National Convention, Rocky Mountain Alumnae Chapter earned the Crown Chapter Award again as well as joined the Founder's Club by donating over $10,000.
GROUP DYNAMICS:
We are a group of approximately 55 members, which represent over 25 collegiate chapters. Our members range from recent college graduates to well-seasoned ZTAs who have seen and done it all. Our members are single, married, mothers, grandmothers, business women, teachers and stay-at-home moms.
MEETING INFO:
We hold events from September through June, varying the day of the week. Our events usually begin at 6:30 p.m. We try to vary the area of the city where we meet each month to accommodate the large area we cover. In the past we have also hosted a monthly Happy Hour or Dinner all over the metro area September through June.
SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY:
Our large service project is to staff the Zeta booth at local Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events. We staff the survivor booth area and participate in other activities throughout the event. Some of the projects we have planned in the past include collection of school supplies, canned food drive, making cards to distribute at Valentines Day, and putting together "Finals Survival Kits" for Kappa Alpha collegiate chapter.
CHAPTER CORRESPONDENCE:
We send out a monthly e-newsletter which provides information on upcoming events. The e-newsletter goes out to all the ladies we show living in the Denver Metro Area where we have a valid email address. In addition to the e-newsletter, an E-vite (via e-mail) is sent out before each event to serve as a reminder of the upcoming gathering. Ladies just need to provide an e-mail address and request to be added and they will receive the e-newsletter and the E-vite.
HOW TO JOIN:
All members in good standing with the Fraternity are welcome to join our group. We have three different levels of dues. Dues for the first two years out of college are $30. Regular dues are $40 and Ultra-Violet dues are $50. The Ultra-Violet level helps supplement the recent college graduates and helps raise additional funds. Please go to the Membership page to see the ways you can pay dues.
